I gotta put together five trucks to make one.

Building another blazer with a long donor list.
1) Chassis is from my very first blazer that is no lnger with us.
2) Tub is from Texas, had been rolled early in life and sat broken/alone for years - pass. quarter smashed - firewall twisted but entirely rust free!
3) Passenger quarter panel from Michigan
4) Firewall is from a 72 3/4 ton pickup out of N.H.
5) Blazer windshield frame from same place in Michigan but different vehicle

All these 'good' parts are coming together on my latest project.
It's going to be the daily driver/trail/camping/what ever I want to use it for blazer. :cool1:

Quick specs:
350 w/TPI from an 87 IROC using a stand alone computer set up
Minor 2" all spring lift w/zero rates and a U-bolt flip kit, new shocks
3/4 ton axels w/4:11's or 4:56's (still unknown) <gotta pull em yet
Good chance it'll get a 4spd but have an auto on hand if I decide different
Old school slotted mags w/33x12.5 SSR's
Might even Linex the tub, we'll see

In parts/pieces right now but heading in the right direction. ;)

Wow that quarter panel looks nice! awsome work!
Take pics and notes of how you splice the windshield frame back together... I have a rust free frame that needs to get grafted in to my k5 someday.. just the very middle above the windshield gasket is rusting.
Its really too bad you don't live closer. you'd be wanting to help save my blazer from the dark side.
I've got a clean front clip in my backyard, but the bedsides of my truck are kinda starting to look like your original tub if i keep on wheelin all crazy. :rotfl:
It is really inspiring to see pics of restorations like what you are doing...So keep the pic's coming!!! It makes me want to get another first gen just to restore to cherry condition and keep it far away from the trees and rocks. :rotfl:

Alright, i'll answer your tpi questions, but you'll be getting some body work questions in return. :cool1:

:smirk: yeah, true enough but I wanna visit the dark side just the same. :woot:

About the body work, ask away.

that tub and bedsides that you have sitting on sawhorses looks almost the same as whats in my backyard now. ;) except the passanger side isn't as smashed up.

So in that second to last picture, you have the old and new bedside that is about to go on.. instead of hi-jacking this post, i started a new one about how to remove and replace the bedsides...
maybe you can help.. do you have any more pictures?

you guys are lucky to be able to find what you are finding, you cant even find one first gen anything cept a pickup, and second gen are getting to be never seen anymore either, sad but true, ppl in southern places are luck y have the opportunities to come across these things and even own one or five lol.,

good luck with yours,

Blast from the past...TTT. :D

About to hit the "GO" button on this one finally.

Also finally settled on and have found the drive train parts.
*TBI'd 355 crate motor w/serp set up.
*700r freshened up to survive some abuse, luvin' the 3.06:1 1st gear and the 30% overdrive.
*241 t-case for the 2.72 reduction
*D60 front with a 14BFF rear w/4.56's.
Detroit in the rear and possibly a limited in the front.
*Set of 37" MT/R's

Building this one to drive it!

Let's see some pictures!!!!!!!:D

You'll love the 700r4 241 combination for all around usability.

What color is it going to be? I vote for the bronze that the tub originally was.:wink1:

My vote as well... I have that bronze on about 6 panels of 2 separate projects... I've been thinking about a semi gloss for the tow rig in that color.

I like the bronze alot too but there's another color that I've 'always' wanted to paint one of my blazers.

What kind of cruising rpm's do you anticipate for 60 mph? Sounds like a cool rig!

According to the charts, looks like somewhere around 1900rpm's @ 65mph.

Are you gonna have enough clearance for 37s with a 6" lift? I'm assuming since you're talking about crawl ratio, that you're gonna at least lightly wheel it. Wouldn't you need to go with 7" to 8" of lift or trim the fenders?

Yeah, it'll get wheeled for sure.
Not like my blue one but some when I have the 'need' too.

Fender trimming 101 is a course I took awhile ago. :D

That crusing rpm will be perfect! Wish my 69 K20 could cruise somewhere near that rpm range!!!

No kidding! I've been kicking around the next phase of mine already. I really want an OD tranny and the deeper 1st gear is just a great bonus. I'm really interested to hear how the 700r4/NP241 install goes. Are you going with an SYE on the 241 to recover some of your length and driveshaft pinion angle?

If you're in Texas and like manual tranny's with OD, there's a place selling rebuilt nv4500's for $1k around San Antonio (I think).
