I ran across this term on a couple of threads about cages. What exactly are takeout bars? How do they work? What kind of strength do they have? Where in a cage can they be used effectively? Educate me. :)

the only thing i know of it could refer to is removable door bars, this is the only place in a cage that a removable bar would be acceptable, although i wouldn't do it.

the door bar runs from half way up the "B" post of the cage to the base of the "A" post. is some street cars w/ a cage they make this bar where it can swing out like a door to make it easier to get in & out.

I have also seen them between shock hoops over top of the engine. I wouldnt think you would want them anywhere where it was a critical support part of the cage.
