Hey guys, I am installing a Dana 60 this weekend. Couple questions, Can I take a leaf out of the spring pack? Also, can I drill a hole in the springs to move it 1" forward instead of using an EZ inch? I don't want the extra lift.

I have 8" Superlift Superide front springs. I have heard the 60 adds an inch to the height of the rig. I don't want that. Can I take out a spring? Which one? I have new ORD shackles and greasable bolts and bushings also.

Hope you guys can help me here!!!

Actually a D60 front adds closer to 5/8" "lift" over the D44 and 10 bolt fronts.

You can remove leaves. I'd start with the very bottom ones and start from there. Just remove the first one to start with and check everything out after that. If you don't like it, you can remove another one but any more may be pushing it.

not a good idea at all for redrill of the pin hole. makes the spring real weak there as it is with 1 hole. let alone 2 holes.

and try drilling spring steal. :haha:not a easy do it your self home job.

i would find some smaller leafs and swap out and resell those.

but you have 6 leaf front now. i would drop bottom 1-2 and try it. i bet 2 would be just right for ya. but just my opinion.

Go ahead and take a leaf or two out.

As for drilling the springs, bad because the spring is likely to break there and because you won't be able to do it with regular drill bits anyway.

You can redrill your perches though and gain around an inch that way.

Thanks! I picked up new u bolts, ORD HD shackles and greasable bolts and bushings extended steel braided brakelines. It has a raised steering arm on it now. Doing crossover next month, well, the end of Sept. Getting the R&P installed tomorrow. It has new pads. Doing kingpins after its installed.

What am I forgetting?

i need to stock up on my hubs, only got three sets.

pretty sure hes right, thats all youre missin.

I have the same front 8" superlift springs and I removed two leaves. The ride improved quite a bit but I've flattened the pack in a short period of time. I'd sell those and get what you want.
