So as I look at my trucks new paint drying, iv realized somethin. The best piece of advice I can give a new CK5 member is take tons of pics of your trucks. I have almost none of mine throughout the 7 yrs iv had it. It's been through 2 bodies, motors, lifts, interiors, all sorts of changes and upgrades and I don't have any pics, so take pics, so one day you can look back at that stock truck and see what you have done to it over time, wish I would have.

I categorically deny having 3067 pictures of my truck. (That's the blue truck; there's more, though not THAT many more, of the brown one.)

The problem is that somebody says "I need a picture of the left-hand motor mount on a 1974 with a 350 that was converted from a Mazda rotary engine on a prime-numbered Tuesday in Siam" and you say "Oh, I have a photo of that". :doah:

Plus you get sentimental quickly when you compare

:haha:

But yes, it is incredibly handy to keep pix, especially of the components BEFORE they go in the vehicle. I can often find photos of the drivetrain, say, that are far more useful than crawling around under the truck now.

Funny you should reply. It was your build thread that spurred this brilliant thought. You have before and after pics of a rearview mirror install. I found one of when I originally bought mine, and I say now, lookin at it, what a waste of 2200. Haha, rusted out roached out junk. Only thing iv kept since I bought it was the axles frame and tcase, some of the original tranny remains, but the case died as a result of a long front driveshaft, and a purpose built jump, end result is vicegrips and a trailer.

Who said pic whore? :haha:

Actually, I'm just forgetful. I don't know how y'all guys with a life do it -- I don't have kids, live alone, pretty simple, but the photos are often the only way I keep track.

I get asked for a build thread. I took 15 pictures. And did not know about this place until it was done.

I cant count how many vehicles I've had. Forgotten about some I'm sure. Don't have pictures of most of them. Just never has been a big deal to take them I guess.

That and you're too busy actually doing WORK. Between that tow rig of yours and your welding skills, I'm jealous.

For various reasons -- financial, motivation, waiting on parts delivery, clue level, whatever -- I don't end up getting done as much as I'd like. Plus I figure my learning may help the next guy ... or make them laugh at me, one or the other :D

Thats why im glad others have build threads, so i can look at theirs and remember how dumb it was not to take pics of mine as it came along :haha:
