Talk me in or out of pursuing this...

I love my cucv and I get 20mpg on the highway with 33s. 3:08 gears with the diesel. You can't beat it. The price seems fair if it is relatively rust free.

I would check it out thoroughly for rust. They aren't usually from around here.

I wont talk you out or into it. :D

I'd rather have a civilian model with a TH700R4, radio, gauges, decent interior, etc. The only good thing about those are the 8" wide wheels.

I'll try to look at it this week but the reality is it won't be till the weekend. Too hard after work some weeks.

I'm good at looking at all the usual Chevy square body stuff . only new thing for me is the diesel part. All I really know is they can have blown head gaskets and broken starter bolts. Anything else I should look for? He says the miles are original, but I've heard that a million times

Martin, you're the last guy on here I'd ever think would recommend a 700r. Lol!

So I talked to the guy on the phone last night. Kind of a character. He says its an Oregon rig and he got it on trade for some other rig he had. He also says the miles are original but that it had a new trans put in it a while back. Not sure why a th400 would wear out that fast so that seems fishy.

Might go look at it tomorrow after work if I can swing it. Or hold out for a 4 SPD blurb....

lol. i can tell you right now which way his vote is going to go!

I was averaging about 18-19 with my m1009 on 37" hummer tires. It's the best truck I've ever bought. Sad to say it will be for sale soon though :( I say go for it, that's a good price IMO. If the injector pump hasn't been replaced, expect to do that soon and start saving up for it

Over a TH400 I will. I dislike automatics. If you are going to be stuck with one, you might as well be stuck with a good one. Overdrive, deeper first gear, much less parasitic loss, etc.

They are highly over rated. I have people constantly asking me for them to replace their blown up ones. Also the cases are generally hammered out and junk.

Why not a 4 speed Blazer? It's too bad they are so rare.

4 speed blazer hmmm that must be why I like my cucv so much

I just sold a 4 SPD blazer last year. Bad timing I guess. There is a 4 SPD burb I have my eye on but its a little more than I want to spend.

Was looking at diesel for the mileage. Don't know how many 4 SPD swaps I have in me. The last one I did on a gravel driveway by myself and it truely sucked.
