got a guy who wants to trade me an 83 yota on propane for my burb...fresh 22r off a rebuild..this would be a trail truck but i know NOTHING about yota's..i think it would be fun though

'Yota pickups are awesome. IMO, they're the best vehicle to build off of.

They're light, narrow, have solid axles and gear driven transfer cases and have a cheap and easy doubler (Marlin)

You could lift it (and/or swap to longer springs like people do with 52's on K5's), throw in a doubler, buy Aussie lockers front and rear, replace the stock Birfields with Longfields and throw a set of 37's on it and hang with just about anything out there for a fraction of the cost of most builds.

damn this is making me seriously concider it..would you trade chris..here are some pics

here is what he says about it

runs and drives great
new hoses belts plugs wires cap button

needs :
propane tank
bed
bumper
battery

this would make an awesome drive to the trails truck
only has 99k on the power train no leaks any wear

if i were to build another rig...like start from scratch it would be an 85 4-runner. i love my chevy and would not trade it.but toyotas are awesome ad dirt cheap to build....why not keep the burb and buy the yota as well

i dont have a up to date pic but here was the latest...it has a dent in the door now its just sitting in the back yard rotting away

I'm not sure if it's a good trade...

But Toyotas are very popular, expensive and have a great parts base. Look for Marlin Crawler or Trail Gear.

My kid has an 85 Toyota 4x4 standard cab short bed and just bought a 4.7 to 1 kit for his transfer case from Trail Gear.

We wheel with others who have dual cases etc... sweet wheelers!

I wouldn't trade cuz I have 4 kids and the Toy wouldn't fit them all, but if it was just me and the wife I would do it. Put a fork lift tank or two in it and some tail lights and drive it every day

Seems to me to be a matter of what you want to do with it. If you're looking for something to wheel by yourself or with one passenger and the Sub is just sitting, why not? If you want to take a significant other, kids, etc. keep the burb. Wouldn't hurt to figure the relative values before trading straight across - a Toy on propane looks great now, what if gas suddenly drops to $2.00 a gallon? (Don't hold your breath on that one, but you get the idea)

i have a toyota of sorts: 229 v6, turbo 350, dual toy cases and toy axles.

Toyotas are great rigs.I just helped a friend build one with locked Yota axles, high steer,63s in the rear, mix and match up front, full exo on 36s and it still drives great around town and did very well at his first ORV park.Pretty cheap compared to what I have in my rig.

Those are real popular out here . Half the AZ toy guys ( the ones who wheel rocks ) toss the bed , add a little tube , lift and cut just enough up front to clear some large tires ( on Chevy ralley rims , they fit toys with good backspacing ) , add some longfields ,and wheel :thumb:

isnt the yellow truck ur trail truck now? so ud have 2? definitely dont think id trade ur burban for it. maybe trade plus cash, but not straight up. is it auto or manual?

solid axle toyotas are sweet tho, if i didnt have a fullsize, thats what id build with tube bed, full width 60's, merlin doubler with deeper gear set in rear case, toyota rear springs up front, chevy 64's in the rear and 39-42" iroks. that could be done pretty cheaply

the yellow truck is a street light trail truck...im kinda in the middle of deciding what to do as far as propane goes with it...i have a set of 1 tons for it but like i say i drive it around town...this truck would be strictley for beating

i started looking into parts today and you guys are right this stuff is cheap...here is what im thinking, take my yellow truck (in good shape now) and clean it up real nice and drive it around town (thats what i do now mostly anyway)

get the toyaota and make it full on trail truck

I flat tow my sons 85 Toy when we go wheelin.

i got a trailer and a tow rig right now,im thinking about everything and it all seems to be cheaper

cost of build
propane vs gas in a v8 or propane in a v8
weight im towing behind me

there are alot of variables that are pointing me towards this truck
