My current 85 Burb project still has the 16x6.5 rims and hub caps and I was planning on keeping it that way as I like the utilitarian look. Curious if anyone has or is running 305`s or something close to that in the 33" range on rims that narrow with a 4" lift.

Both 255/85-16 and 285/75-16 are like 33" in height, they should work.
I wouldn't go wider than that, on those rims.

how wide are these new tires thats the real question
what part of the central coast you from??

Havent bought anything as of yet, lift goes in in the next week or so then tires are the next item. I never had any issues running 12.50`s on 8`s although the tire mfg`s ay no I believe, cant see a reason not to run 305`s or so on the 6.5`s but Ive never done it. BTW, in in north eastern SLO county.

I ran 36x12.5-16.5 HMMVW bias plies on 16.5x6.5 steelies on Big Ugly when I first got it. Not optimal but worked.

You could run 285/75R16's (33x11.25R16) or 255/85R16's (tall 33"x10.5ishR16)'s pretty easily. I've run both on rims about that wide and they work well.

Right now I have 38x11 tires on my stock 2007 GM 16x6.5 steelies and they work.

As you get wider with the tread the tires bulge more. With a taller tire it isn't that noticeable but I'd bet with 33's the sidewall would look kinda donut-y with 33x12.5's. Might have tread wear issues but hard to say really. Depends on the tire but that narrow of a rim isn't optimal.

I have 35x12.50x16.5" BFG Mud Terrains on stock GM wheels. Tires are wearing evenly.

You could run the Interco Q78-16 TSL Swampers (36") on that rim no problem. This tire is equivalent to say 36x10.50-16. My friend has them on his crewcab with stock rims like your, no problem.

I plan on doing the same thing on a couple of my trucks. I like the narrow tire look. I'm going to use interco LTB's 34/10.5/16 on stock 16" wheels.

I like that tall narrow tire look, even better with a 4 to 6 inch lift. heres a few pics. Some of these trucks are probably CK5 members.

I'm running a 315/75r16 on 16x6.5 wheels on my burb.. works beautifully. It's all in the air pressure..

 Nice! They look similar to a 305/85/16 buckshot mudder. There was a thread somwhere about those co-op tires, they might only be availible in the south.
