Hey all, when I was doing the shackle flip I noticed some moisture at the bottom of the tank. It had some sort of apoxy to seal it. I guess I disturbed it cuz the slight dampness has formed qaurter size puddles over a months time. nothing serious but I need to change it.

So I have a m1009 I believe it comes with a 27 Gal tank. Ive seen 31 gallon ones on line that go for 120.00 bucks. Will these work? Should I avoid these and go with something else or stay 27?

Wish you were close I have a 32 gallon sitting on the side of my house. Just swapped it out for a 32 gallon fuel cell.

It will work, but you need new straps and the correct sending unit for the bigger tank.

Someone already used some sort of sealant to plug it up once. Would it be a good Idea to take that and redo it?

You can try and seal right over it. I have had tanks last many years after sealing this way. Really depends on the shape of the rest of the tank though.

Well As far as I can tell, the rest looks ok. Ill give it a shot and see how it turns out.

I used J-B Waterweld putty on my 6.2's rotted oil pan back in Jan. 2008.and its just started weeping again,I think the pan is now rusted just below where I applied it..I was surprised it has held that long myself, having little faith in epoxy's and bondo type "fixes"..I simply drained the oil,and at first tried using "tinners flux" and 50/50 solder to seal the rot holes up after using carb cleaner, and it did seem to stick, but it was robably the J-B Waterweld putty that did 90% of the "sealing"..I sprayed it down good with Brakleen, then mushed on a good sized blob of the putty and smashed it in good till it was about 1/8 to 1/4" thick--since it was only about 30 degrees out,I hung my 100W droplight bulb next to it,and ten minutes later it was rock hard, but I left it on for 2 hours, then put the oil back in the engine..it was bone dry up until a month ago, guess it wants more!..I have a nice pan to put on it,but have not been feeling good enough to attempt that big a job this past year...

My friend loves the J-B Waterweld,he uses it on a lot of things at his used car lot--gas tanks, oil pans,it even worked on a 2001 Impala's cracked tranny,it hasn't leaked a drop in 9 months..
