the tank on my blazer is crushed in so im not sure how to fig out the size I actually need, I had advance auto ship a tank to there store and its a 31 gal, but before I go make the purchase I would like to make sure I have the right size. When I was trying to locate sending unit the guy said they have no sending units availible for the 31 gal tank aswell so if someone could help me confirm tank size for a 1984 Chevy K5 Blazer that would be helpful thanks everyone

Could be 25 or 31 gal. Most are 31 gal but you’d have to verify via the RPO sticker in the glove box to be sure.

yea I get that just been looking through lots of fourms here on ck5 nothing on the 84 and lots of either 52 or 31 ill have to see if that sticker is still in the truck
might be gone

the current tank is crushed here is the pics of the tank that I have

I wanna say its the 31 gal but just want a second opinion

If you are replacing the tank and sender then you can go either way. Might as well get new tank straps so you’d be replacing all the parts anyway.

so both will fit just fine if so then im going with the 31 gal and im going to look into the straps aswell then thanks for the advice

I think the straps are the only difference.

I’m also pretty sure that the skid plate is the same between 25 and 31 but different for a Suburban 40 gal tank.

That’s good to know I can fit a 31 with ease. PO put something like a 15-18gal tank in when he replaced it. Filling up every 75-100 miles is a pain.

straps ,sending unit, and i believe skid plate is different. On the 87 jimmy I have the previous owner changed the tank and sender when he put the 25 gal tank in. it was the only one available to him years ago. it had the factory 31 gallon tank in it from the factory.there is only supposed to be two inches difference in depth of tank.same length and width.

I have had more blazers then i can count in the past ,all had 31 gallon tanks. the skid plate from the 31 gallon tank is on the jimmy with the 25 gallon tank. there is a gap between the two that i never noticed on any of the other blazers.

got the new tank purchased and its in my friends garage just have to track down a sending unit for a 31 gallon tank and possibly some new straps ill post pics when I get my hands on it
