I need to shorten my heavy duty tie rod that is for the conventional placement for use with high steer. What size tap do I need to retap the end after I shorten it?

IIRC it is 7/8"-18 Make damn sure you cut the right hand threaded side and NOT the left hand threads. Left handed taps aren't cheap.

How much shorter do you have to go? Can you cut an inch off each side and be good? The tierod end has about 2" of thread and tube threads go in about 3" IIRC. I just had to do this, going from a D44 to D60.
