Released from Pueblo, told I belong in Southpark
I just swapped tranny (350 to 400) switched from NP 205 to ORD 203/205 doubler, and installed Winters / Art Carr floor shifter.

The exhaust is off and I am running rams horn manifolds. Oxy sensor was on old exhaust, so right now Oxy sensor is there but not hooked up to anything.

Turns over fine but no start. If I pour fuel in it will fire up but since I am alone I can't pour fuel and work the ignition and gas at the same time so don't know if it would stay running if I had 3 long arms and could do all that.

Questions:

1. With key on should I be able to move throttle linkage and see fuel shoot out?

This is a stock TBI 350 from a 93 suburban, it has been in the vehicle for about 5 years with no issues.

2. How to test fuel pump to see if pumping fuel? I can hear it turn on and kick off as usual when you turn key on. It is a frame mounted fuel pump as I am still working off the original 1970 fuel tank that has been cleaned and re-conditioned when I put the motor in years ago.

3. I did hook up ground to frame. I went from the fuel pump boss to the frame. I tried it both with it hooked up and without first.

Just thought I would ask some questions before I start throwing parts at it. Thanks.

Nope, not as far as I know. The computer controls the injectors. I don't think it will command a pulse unless the engine is running.
But, you should see some gas when cranking.

Easiest way to check fuel is to loosen the fuel line and cycle the key.

Cardinal rule when troubleshooting, if it was working, and you did something and now it does not work, check what you did.
No matter how unlikely.

With all the swapping, you might have broken the pump wire, but it runs, so probably not.
However, any chance you crimped the fuel line when bolting stuff up?

ok fixed it. The idiot :doah:that mounted the doubler crossmember pinched the wire from the fuel pump and that blew the fuse.

thanks to using the phone a friend option ktmoutfront analyzed and told me how to fix the problem over the phone.

pulled the hose off the output of the fuel pump turn key on no fuel, it was the relay I could hear not the pump. Ran a jumper wire straight from positive on the battery and ta da fuel. Then I found the wire caught and followed it up to the blown fuse.

There you go. Always check what was done when it quit. No matter how unlikely.
