I cobbled together a bracket to hold my throttle cable on my 454. But, it has my idle acting all crazy and making the blades stick open and yada yada. So my question is, as I know someone has done this or seen it, is what bracket will work for a Vortec 454 with a a non egr carb intake with a transdapt plate mounting my TBI.

Can't you bend your bracket a little toward the front of the truck to take some tension off the throttle cable?

The problem mainly is the bracket I have is off a 89 454. And when you bolt it on, you either can only use one bolt and it sorta kinda fits, but flexes like crazy, or the way I did was use both bolts, and extended it in a way 90% of you would frown apon. IIRC I heard that the bracket off a newer 454 will work, but there isnt a single BBC in any of the 5 yards around here that has anything left of them that will clue me in. \

Bending it was out of the question, as the old bracket doesnt fit in the new manifold for whatever reason. Im fairly certain most manifolds use the same basic pattern for coil mounting and bracket mounting and so on. I am 65% sure that a newer bracket fits with some round stock cut down as a spacer, and it goes through the intake to head bolts or something. Cant remember where I seen it though of course.
