what year TBI 454 use the old style intake manifold, I need to find a TBI unit and the adtaptor "thingy" that lets you bolt it up to a regular intake.

I have a tbi 454 with an old style block but all i did was bore out the middle 4 holes on the intake to adapt it. i think they may make a kit but im not sure ewho does. i could never find one myself.

for some odd reason, i remeber seeing a factory adaptor on a big big block. I might just bore mine out till I can save the money to get the edelbrock intake for the TBI.

I can tell you the one 454 '91 I pulled apart did not use the adapter.

The earlier in the TBI run the more likely I'm sure.

My 89 has one, not sure where they stopped.

the tbi setup on my 88 burban had an adapter. I cant send you an email(says you selected not to be able to receive emails), or a PM, but I have an adapter, no tbi unit though. Send me an email if you want it.

I think it was '89 and '90 that used the adapter. It's an odd looking piece, that adapts the TBI to a Q-Jet intake. It sure doesn't look like it would provide optimum fuel distribution.

Also, Edelbrock makes a 454 TBI Performer intake, but they run about $250. :eek1:

yes I looked at the intake from Edelbrock, but 250 bucks is out of the buget right now. I am trying to fix the motor and get my truck going on 400. If you have some one else to buy the adaptor then go ahead and sell it, I will either get one when I find a TBI unit or I will just take a factory intake. But thank you you very much.PS email and PM should work now.

New question, my distributor from my 91 TBI will it work with a big block?

Thanks, since I am doing this on such a limited buget I was going to just drop a carb on it, but now it seems I just need to find a TBI unit and plug eveything back up.

I think it was 87 and 88 only. after that they made an intake that had the right pattern on it for the TB.
