possibly lookin for a tbi/4l80 harnness stand alone from donor parts.

i have the computer from a 1ton van that was 350/4l80 and even have a good used 4l80-e .

who has a good harnness and quality service.

seems like harness prices go way up when 4l80E is used. If you look on ebay, TurboCity has one for $350. HTH

I was able to make my own TBI/4L80E harness. I converted a "Dirt Cheap" 1987 ~ 1991 TBI harness to the newer red / blue connector TBI PCM. I then added a used 4L80E harness. Total cost was about $50 and 10 hours of time. Send me a PM if you need the wiring schematic I used?:dunno:

If I was to buy a new custom TBI / 4L80E Harness, my first call would be to Larry's Electric http://www.larryselectricsite.com/

i just found this place for tranny controler only. looks real good for prices and YOU tune the softwear and set stuff up. and minor changes done with controler in vehicle no laptop needed.

i just down loaded there softwear sample. and played with it. i like it yes/no questions with custom options for tech savy people or custom setups. and good flow graph chart at the end to show everything in action.

you can pinpoint basicly every function of he tranny with this setup. i like it.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

just got off the phone with there tech line. WOW :eek1: super guys and vary good info.

this controler is stipid simple to hook up. 1 tps signal wire and power 12v and ground.

then best to use 2wd rear oss option in tranny for stupid simple use with NO 4wd problems for any low range ratio options of combos.

the unit has 2 stored programs for driving. so 1 can be set to dd use mode and other for what ever. its all up to you and how you program it.

thay are vary cool on info if you ask me. and i WILL be reading a lot more on them and prob get one for my project STUBBY when i get ready to finish it.

:thumb: :thumb: :thumb: to Baumann controller optishift company !!!

oh ya and thay offer stock on there controler padel shifter inputs. so you can leave in drive and up/down shift with switch.

Wow that is a great product and price considering others I have seen. If you just needed control of transmission.

But I thought you wanted EFI motor and 4L60E transmission?

wanted efi and tranny all in 1 harnness if at all possible for simple.

and this is simple to install and so many control options even on the fly somewhat why not.

and 4l80 :D not 4l60 :( .........:thumb:

This is the transmission controller I am using for my build. It was very easy to use. Customizing the shift point is super easy to. You just drag the graph point to where you want to shift. If you have a laptop in while you are driving it shows you exactly where you are on the graph based on throttle position and speed, its really cool.

I will say that my only complaint is the way this controller is designed you really need to have your output speed sensor in the transmission case with a 4x4 otherwise you have to use your secondary table as the low gearing set. In my case this sucks because my tranmission didn't come with a output reluctor ring. Had I of gotten the Compushift this wouldn't be an issue from what I understand.

The factory '427 PCM is the low cost ticket to EFI and 4L80E in one harness.:doah:Send me a PM if your interested in negotiating a deal. :dunno:

i got tbi in truck just no tranny side as was 88 truck.

also have 93 - 94 van ecm with 350 tbi and 4l80 . stock chip still in it.

by the time i get custom tune for the newer computer style with chip i might be better off staying 7747 ecm now in truck and get the chip for that and do there tranny side kit for all the user tunable options it offers.

but will pm you to see what you got.

The real low cost / dirt cheap option that I would do would be to convert the '7747 TBI Harness in your truck to the 93 - 94 Van PCM. I did a post showing how low cost / dirt cheap it is to convert to the newer PCM called '7747 R.I.P. http://coloradok5.com/forums/showthread.php?t=270253 Just add the wires to the 4L80E.

Pretty sure you'd be able to make all the tranny changes you want, same as the aftermarket kit, if you spent the money on tuning equiptment instead of the aftermarket stuff.

i ad mit i new to the complex world of custom stuff. :doah:

Say WHAT??????????????

Everything I posted information on, used ALL FACTORY PARTS:confused:

Factory wiring diagrams.
Factory computer and prom chip.
Factory wiring and factory connectors.

Custom NOTHING NEEDED!:waytogo:

custom tunning for motor specs i have. NOT stock 350 tbi

better than stock shift points and firmness.

i got a lot of veriables going on here in the project. so guess i better read up more before i mess up.

oh ya and i dont care for wiring much. it kicks my butt most the time.

I get where your coming from.:smile1:

I suppose it would be possible to custom make an adapter plug to allow plugging in the old '7747 ECM wire harness into a newer TBI '427 PCM. I suppose the time needed to custom build such an adapter plug would be about as many hours, maybe more, as the hours needed to re-pin the '7747 connectors to the newer PCM. I think the parts needed would be a TBI '427 PCM red / blue connectors and pigtail wires, about 12" long, and an old '7747 ECM to cannibalize for some parts. The 4L80E wiring would be added to the '427 PCM connector.

Anyone know what an adapter plug like I describe would be worth?:dunno:

Way more time and money than repinning the 7747 ECM to 427 ECM pigtaials...

Maybe this Ebay auction is the solution? Looks like the PCM connectors are Tan color, so maybe this harness uses the 1991 ~ 92 PCM. I'm more familar with the 93 ~ 95 Red / Blue PCM connectors.

Designed as a "stand alone" harness to operate 91,92,93,94,95, GM 7.4[454] or 5.0[305],5.7[350] TBI engines with Electronic transmissions[4l80E]

That's the one I told him of earlier. But dollar for dollar it would still be cheaper to change connectors on his ECM an add wires to 4L60E. But that is more time... (time I have so it's my opinion :D)

I can appreciate that when it comes to EFI wiring, people tend to be binary with their wiring skills ~ Plug and Play or Plug and Pray?

If you can Plug and Play, expect your wallet to be prayed upon!:eek1:
