With all the talk about TBI, I have a question about some heads I found. I don't know if these are the ones recently talked about or not. Here's a link:

http://www.goautocenter.com/350_tbi_1987-9.htm

I figure with the HP heads I could get at least the 270 they show and stay with iron heads. I called Autocenter and the 270 hp is with an Edelbrock TBI manifold and Edelbrock headers and Edelbrock aluminum TBI heads. I believe that the cam they use is the same one Solowookie is going to use. They also claim a custom chip isn't necessary but several customers have realized better gains with one.

Thanks for any help.

Comparing those two heads is comparing apples to oranges really. The vortechs still probably flow a bit better and they have different intake paterns. The vortech also have a fast burn type cumbustion chamber like the fast burn heads which helps power and milage. FYI, back in 1997 when I first heard of the vortech heads... long before anyone knew much about them, I heard from circle track racers about their so called power. Well my buddy has a shop and builds a huge amount of race motors and we set up a 355 w/ 12.1 compression w/ some stock vortechs and made over 430 hp! No lie... right off the dyno. I would of never believed it If I didn't see it right before my eyes. Those things flow gangbusters!
