I have a 350 tbi in my k5 and i want to get a different coil (bought a chitty parts store one temporarily). I was thinking of the MSD unit so many have recommended on here, but I dont want a GM style because I want to mount it to the firewall. Can I just use a universal MSD Blaster coil like this one: MSD COIL ??

why modify all that for just going to the firewall.

msd has a direct replacement coil for tbi engines.

and this has been said before. ones you go tbi style ignition and up there is no real major gain in adding a box or huge coil.

i have the msd direct replacement on all my tbi stuff. work fine for me.

I don't have the current coil in the normal spot as it is cuz I didn't have the mount for it. So I need something I can mount better

You could also fab up real quick your own mount for the factory style coil and mount it where ever you want but it is best to have the coil wire as short as possible.

Since you don't have the mounting bracket for the direct replacement factory style TBI coil use the Blaster SS part number 8207.

This coil is stronger than the Blaster 3 and the direct replacemt GM coil and you don't have to have anything special to mount it. You can mount it to your firewall using the supplied rubber vibration mounts and call it a day.
