I was on the trail today and the truck was running great... until I went to start it up after a break. It cranks, I have fuel pressure, I can hear the pump, but it doesn't fire. There is no fuel coming out of the injectors either. I also noticed that the SES light doesn't come on when turning the key like it used to.

My fuse panel is hard to read, so I checked every fuse. It turns out the 10 amp fuse in the middle near the bottom of the fuse box was bad. I replaced it and still nothing.

The truck is still on the trail, but due to the lack of diagnostics equipment, I had to leave it. I do have a theory though... I soldered the chip socket on the ECM myself a couple years back and it has worked great. I know I'm not the best with a soldering iron, so I'm going to grab a multimeter and check all those soldered connections.

What else can I check? I think I'll also hit the yard and try to find another 7747 ECM so I can plug it in. Also, if I have to do some soldering on the trail, what size of power inverter would be necessary to run a small soldering iron?

EDIT: I also replaced the TBI recently with a 46mm bore and 68lb/hr cop injectors.

i had "electrical" issuses w/my tbi as well...it was a wiring problem somewhere that i couldnt find so i just carb'd it...well then a blew a head gasket n now the motor is locked up...oh well...time for a new crate motor...good luck finding/fixing the problem...make sure you have someone who knows what they're doin look at/fix it (not sayin u dont)

ignition module runs the spark and fuel. when there bad. once the motor heats up it shuts off till the module cools off

Whew, got it! After coming home and printing out the ECM wiring diagrams I found the problem: the old smog pump plug was melted, shorting out ECM-A. I clipped it, taped it, replaced the fuse and all was OK.
