TBI fire!!!

A friend of mine had ran his truck outta gas so he decided to help get it started quicker he dumped some gas down the TBI adn whooom, flames shot out the top, he jumped back adn slammed the hood closed. NEedless to say his truck's engine compartment is fried.
I've personally never heard of a "backflash" for a lack of better words, happening like that?
I dont know weather to laugh at the guy or feel sorry for him.

Damn I need to learn how to use my welder!!

well your friend isnt too smart. Especially with an elec pump, that was SO NOT NEEDED.

Thats what I was thinking. The guy isn't the brightest person in the world. This is only one of many stupid A$$ things he has done.

The sad thing is if the fire was in the manafold he could have/should have kept cranking and the fire would have been pulled it to the motor and gone out. With no or little damage.
 
Hey, I think I went to school with this guy. Is his right hand knarled up from sticking it into a running lawn mower? How else are you supposed to unclog the grass when it gets stuck up in there...............geez

Stands to reason that if gas went up in flames by doing that then starting fluid would have done the same thing. With an electric pump the easiest and best thing he could have done was turn the damn key.

I can see this guy getting a Darwin award soon.

Well I was thinking when he put the gas in, he probably dumped too much in.. With the starting fluid he could have sprayed a small amount in..

Man I dont know what he did. His wife works here with me and she said he ran outta gas, then put 5 gallons in adn tried to start it and it wouldn't start so he dumped gas in the carb and it started for a second then quit, then he turned it over again adn it backfired and whooooomph.
The guy is a drummer, he's not the brightest creature. His wife is ALL THAT adn he has cheated on her several times. So the guy is just plain stupid. He's not really my friend friend so to speak. I've been a band with him, but since we've parted ways we dont talk anymore.
He's just striaght up, A ROCK!!!

wow, so thats why they think all of us drummers are stupid. gosh, im glad none of the drummers i know are that stupid. and im glad that im not that stupid, yes i am a drummer. im glad to anounce that i am infact a smart drummer. or basically a person who is smart, and loves to drum. simple enough. L8!

Starting fluid

I had two fires with starting fluid in one nite!!

I sucked in a sh!tload of water and it just wouldn't turn over. The guy helping just went nuts spraying it into the manifold.

So if you keep cranking, it'll just suck the fire down and put it out????

What an idiot.....I run out of gas all the time and coast into the gas station, fill it up, and start it.

Just a freindly suggestion, running the in tank fuel pump dry is really hard on them.
