Could I run my external fuel pump inline with my mechanical pump? I have a 84 k5 and swapping the carb out for tbi.

I don't think it would work very well. Just get rid of the mechanical pump.
No. The mechanical pump will have a pulse from the diaphram which will screw with the fuel supply for FI. You need to replace the mechanical pump for the proper electric pump.
