TBI fuel pump system question

My buddy is helping his some fix up a 84 3/4 ton K2500 4x4 with dual tanks. The engine that they put in does not have a provision for a mechanical pump. He'd like to keep the dual tank option. Does the dash switch also supply power to each pump or does it switch the ground? We are just starting on the project and diving into what we need for a parts list.

On the 84, it’s carbureted, and the power to that valve is only a solenoid to switch tanks

87 and up would be your target years. The entire fuel system could be replicated

By the time you’re done it would be cheaper to run a single 31 gal tank behind the axle

I started using the dual tank set ups, and eventually relented

Yep 84 is carb suction only . As said just flips the valve is all .
