Anybody played with the 91 TBI units? I am buying a 91 Burb 3/4 4x4 and will be rebuilding the 350 in it. I know alot mass air units, but have not played with the speed density systems. I am going to make it a 383 with the TBI, but dont know what the computer likes for cams. Been told CompCam XR252 is ok. Any info would be great. This build is on a budget, all of my funds are going into my 434 for my 79 Blazer.

I have an LT4 Hot Cam in mine right now. It's okay, but I want a little smaller. I have a stock LT1 cam I am going to replace it with when I put my Vortecs on it. I have heard it is a good cam for the application, and the price is usually right (mine was free).

Sounds great. The LT 1 profile is what I thought might work. I take it you have not had any problems with the computer?

Keep in mind a 383 is going to need a larger TBI unit, more fuel pressure and also a custom chip burn. Between those items alone you're looking at close to $500.00. As far as a cam goes keep it close to 202/212 duration and 113 lobe seperation and you'll be ok.

Thanks! It needs a new or rebuilt TBI right now, so I am going to have to do something with it anyways, so I will get what I need. As far a chip, I planned on that also. You happen to know what the fuel pressure should be for this app?

I'm running a HOT 350 i built last year and i'm using a 454 TBI unit with the 454 injectors and i run 18psi fuel pressure and had Brian at TBIchips burn a chip for me.

Thanks for the help! When I pick it up I will post some pics. I bought it to tow my 62 Nova to the strip, the only thing that I have to do is make more power. Wish it was a 454, but couldn't resist the price on it.

87-93 were some fun years for options.

and the burban in the top post here is a 3/4 ton so it would basicly be th400 if non overdrive or 4l80-e is overdrive .

but this is basic info not 100% truth back then. thay were getting rid of a lot of stock stuff and making room for ( e ) trannys. ( e ) = electric controled valve body.

Right.

Never really know til you ask :D

I'm sure they are out there, but I haven't seen an R/V 2500/3500 series truck that didn't get the 4L80E in '91.

My truck is kinda odd as it is I think.. date it rolled off the line was October of 91, little late for the 91 model year isn't it? Or were things different back then?

Either way, it won't have a 700R4... no TV cable to worry about.

The 700R4 changed designation to 4L60 starting in 1990 and again to 4L60E starting in 1993.
