Whats the most that can be done to TBI heads at the head shop without getting stupid? Port, polish, larger valves, etc etc........ And how would they compare to Vortec's?

Once you price the cost of porting, new valves, etc., the Vortec heads will suddenly look pretty cheap. /forums/images/icons/shocked.gif Porting takes a lot of time, so the labor hours start really adding up. Someone that really knows what they're doing can make any set of heads flow better. But I don't know if they can do anything to a TBI head to make it flow as good as a stock Vortec head. /forums/images/icons/frown.gif

You are correct about the porting being labor intensive and the vortec heads looking like a good deal -but- you gotta add to the cost of the vortec swap the cost of a new intake, egr pipe, and a new LH ex manifold or a little fab work to you header for the external egr supply. World Products makes a replacement head that out performs a stock head and is 50 state legal.
