Tbi hesitation

Hesitations are usually from a lean condition...here are couple of other items to check:

-check fuel pressure (13-15psi)
-fuel filter
-replace gasket between throttle body and intake
-vacuum lines
-brake booster leak (also a vacuum leak)
-sticky/dirty EGR valve
-MAP sensor; check the vacuum port for the map sensor and make sure it's not partially plugged with crap

Have you done anything to mod the motor, intake, headers, etc? Sounds lean. Does it idle funny when it is cold, sign of extreme lean...

I added a rv cam and tbi spacer. Thinking removing the spacer though. Has been getting worse over the months. It almost stalls with A/C on.

That would make sense. When I changed my cam, it changed the vacuum parameters in the prom and makes it go lean. To fix it you can contact Howell fuel injection, they can build you a new prom. Might have to go through a mechanic you know as they don't always work with the public.

Mine cost me $200. Best 200 I ever spent, made it not hesitate and made it drivable when cold.

forget about the coil. Problems- surging, hesitation. changed-both oil pressure senders, temp sender on intake, newer fuel filter, no vac leaks, map sensor. Any ideas? Thank you for the help thus far.

Surging is also a sign of being too lean...

I fought mine for 2 years before I changed the chip. Ported the fuel pump, added larger lines, changed the fuel pressure, less restrictive filter, checked all of the wiring. Checked it with a scanner and added the chip.

Save yourself the time I spent chasing it....find someone with a scanner and have them watch the block learn while you drive it.

I changed the tps again and it seems for now that the hesitation went away. Was changed back in may. Now it bucks a little. That I think is the egr.

hesitation not completely gone. When I tried to go up on a curb it bogged down for about 1-2 seconds then went up the curb.

I found the problem. When I first checked my plugs the few that I did check, they looked fine. Then I check all of them even the ones that I check b4. I found that some were fouled up. It turned out to be the injector cleaner that I used fouled up the plugs. Don't remember what brand of cleaner. Also was the TPS. I went through 3 of them to find a good one. Luckly they had a 1 yr warranty.
