TBI Mods

I have the power charger. It's just a metal salad bowl thing shaped thing that goes between the air cleaner and throttle body. I just used it to space up my air cleaner so I don't know whether it makes any difference in power.

I already run a 1inch alum spacer and it makes a difference. Trying to find one of those double breather assemblys from a camaro as well.

I run the power charger as well and it does help to flow more air and also helps because there is no longer an abrupt change in direction of air flow like a factory air cleaner and spacer was.

I can vouch for the salad bowl helping...

but i don't think i've seen the Cold air kit.. what's it replace the tophat at the support? anyone got pics? been awhile since I hunted tbi stuff...

Yes pics are what I'm after here. Anyone got some?

that salad bowl is $45. i would just go to the local parts store, get an aftermarket "flat base" air filter setup, and a 6" tall air filter. and as tick of 1/4" allthread.
although i have heard about clearance with the distributer with this setup. but thats easily solved with a ti spacer.:D

sorry no pics. my only mod is a flipped over air cleaner lid. im poor

Has anyone purchased these two parts? I cant seem to view the pics of them.

If this is what I think it is (the pics won't come up) it's just an earlier, non silencer "accordian" tube that goes from the fender to the air filter housing.
Either find one without the silencer box or go visit your favorite hardware store. Buy two 4" rubber hose connectors with hose clamps and a section of 4" PVC pipe. I used black Schedule 40. Put the rubber hose connectors on the fender and the filter housing and cut pipe to fit. Install pipe.
You've done the same thing for about $20 and probably have an even better airflow path.

like scott said,
also helps because there is no longer an abrupt change in direction of air flow .

thats why it's better than any flatbase, regardless of how tall the filter is... I will be running a 6" element on top of my salad bowl tho in the airpan I'm making...... ya just gotta love the 6" elements... :D

other than a fuel pressure bump, the salad bowl was the most noticable mod I did to my tbi....
