i found some info about the dynamic efi and it's got me curious.

for those running it would be possible to get 18-20 mpg out of a suburban on 35's 700r4 and tbi 366 4.10 gears and make 300ish horsepower?

or am i better off with a cummins swap?

Anyone that claims to get 18-20 from a gasser burb has bumped their head. It isn't going to happen in this lifetime.

thanks for the reality check no sense spending money tuning a stand in

My 93 GMC K1500 (5.7 liter / 4L60E) gets close to 15 MPG. The GM Pickups 93-95 ECM is just as good, and in some way$ a better ECM than the Dynamic EFI ECM. My 93 GMC K1500 weighs about 5000 lbs. The engine in my 93 K1500 has some engine mods; the camshaft is a roller camshaft from a TPI Camaro, the throttle body is from a 454 with a modified factory intake manifold, the exhaust manifolds are now headers feeding a 3 inch single exhaust / catalytic converter.

A diesel has several advantages, but seems low cost is not a diesel's best advantage. I live on the West Coast (Washington / Oregon), so diesel fuel tends to be just as expensive or more expensive than Premium Super Unleaded Gas!

I know it's hard to believe but my old man back in the late 80s early 90s drove a 87-89 2wd 1500 suburban and always got 18 on the hwy. Back then the speed limit was 55 though.
He does get better milage than other people in the same vehicle, could be in his head or maybe it's the fact that he always drives very slow and cautious.:D

My mom had an 89 burb with a 305 in it. On the highway we always got a steady 18mpg. But that was also in Oregon with a 55mph limit.

yeah i don't think those numbers are going to be possible for this one, it's the burb in my sig. putting it together to be a do all rig.

-tow a 20' car hauler occasionally
-bumper pull camper on road trips
-some decent offroad capabilities 36's, 4" lift, manual tranny np2o5
so it'll be a little tall and getting 18-20 with a diesel might even be a stretch, i guess we'll find out.

I've got a 90 CC with 8" lift & 37's with 3.73 gears. At best I get 12mpg. After a gear swap I'm definately going with a cummins.

suggestion- cummins first, then gear swap, you might be surprised!

i had an '03 f350 with 3.73's a 6 speed and 35's that didwell with the powerstroke.
