hello all, I am thinking of buying an 89 blazer off of my landlord that is parked at my place. The blazer is in near perfect condition other than the engine swap. he ended up blowing up the stock tbi engine in the truck and swapped in a carburated engine out of an older truck. the engine is stock and also lightly used. If I buy it, I would want to put the EFI back on it. so am I able to just bolt on an EFI intake and throttle body? will I also need EFI heads? will I be able to use my knock sensor? the wiring is all still on the truck and he re used the serpintine system. is there anything else im overlooking?

The TBI intake bolts in the center go straight down vs the older block go in at an angle. When you pull the intake redrill and tap them for straight down and every thing else fits fine. I put a 78 block in a 89 Astro and that is all I had to do. I guess you could even run an adaptor for the TBI unit and not even have to do that. I put in a Performer TBI thats why I did mine.

Knock sensor goes in the block around where the oil filter goes should be treaded hole for it, same hole as where the clutch linkage goes on a early stick.

Vortec's don't fit they only have 8 bolts instead of the 12 you have to do a votec intake then.

89 would be a TBI

That I am not sure of I am going to guess no I thing the TBI is bigger almost carb size and the vortec is alot smaller

i dont think a TBI intake will fit vortec heads but im not sure. i heard that the angle of the heads are is diffrent but im not for certain.
