hello,

I have a 1995 GMC C2500 Burb with a 7.4 TBI motor

it was running perfect until it died when I was driving it
tried to start it and it started again and drove it for a while then it died again
it started later after cranking it for a while but while I am holding the pedal @ around 2000 RPM it will die again

then it wouldn't start at all

I've noticed also when I put the key to start it the warning light in the dash are very dim and they will go off after a while

I've opened the Air cleaner and the injectors aren't pushing any fuel when I crank it

OK this is a sign of a defective ignition module :doah:
we've replaced the ignition module and viola it runs again
drove it for a while and it died again :(
later we replaced it with a new ignition module and it runs till it burn the module again

what should I be looking for ?
electrical short ? burnt wire ? loose ground ?
how can I see the trouble codes in the dash by clipping the ALDL connector? I believe this car is OBD I since it is 1995 model

we haven't touched or changed anything in the truck before this happens

your help is highly appreciated
Ahmed

I've seen a bad pickup take out modules like that. I would either rebuild it w/ a new pickup, or just throw a new dizzy in.

Jason 4x4 is right on. I just had my throttle body and injectors rebuilt by Performance Specialities in Houston. While talking to Dan at PS, I mentioned I had a spell of modules fail. I bought an all new distributor and have had no more problems. Dan also said to be careful in buying a rebuilt distributor as some of them aren't any better than what you have now. Buy quality, or have your's rebuilt by a reputable rebuilder.

thanks a lot
OK I will rebuilt the distributor
but why the warning lights in the dash go dim and very weak ?

we have replaced the pickup coil & the module
and a switch under the steering column
now everything is fine

thank you very much for your invaluable help
