Hey guys this is an ongoing problem.. wont ever end.. i have a 1987 K5 blazer w/ a 350 tbi 700r 208 combo. I recently put a new ignition module, coil, and fuel filter. None of the wires touch the steering or anything. My issue is when i am driving down the road, slow down or come to a stop, and then start turning left, no matter if gas is on or off, the engine spudders and dies until i am straight again and floor it then it kicks back on and runs perfectly. Never does it turning right ever It also will sometimes shut off when i am in park, put it into reverse, just dies completely. Someone have an idea what could be wrong? I am about to put a carb on the damn thing.

Bad motor mounts causing the hot lead to the starter to ground out between the frame and the engine or exhaust manifold.

I have seen it before

I wonder if it could be wiring in the column.

Have you tried jacking up the front axle, tires off the ground, and repeated the left turn test to see if it will stall or if you can see anything odd? Probably help to have a second set of eyes.

yeah i was thinkin the steering column... that will suck so much if it is, so many wires in there. ill try both out tmrow, but man will driving to school be crazy again.

This is just a wild guess. If it only happens turning in one direction, MAYBE the cam setup that turns off your turn signals is crossed up with your ignition feed????????????????????????????

Nothing at the top of the column should influence the truck running. Key is a mechanical link to the ignition switch, which is what allows power to flow to the fuse panel. (if switched ignition power) The wires that feed the injection are all fed through the ignition switch at the base of the column, and they aren't injection specific...you'd be losing voltage to other things as well.

Any chance you've got a fuel issue? No difference full or empty tank?

Does the speed that you're driving while turning matter? What about how sharp you turn? Does going around a fairly sharp curve to the left cause it to happen?

so i didnt even go to class this morning.. didnt want to risk causing a traffic jam.. within a traffic jam and fixed my truck instead. I crawled under and found out my oil pressure sensor behind the dizzy wasnt plugged in! musta came uncliped when i was back there and never noticed cuz i usually workin at night. Truck runs perfect now, just came back from a 30min drive, runs great. thanks guys!!

actually that wasnt completely clipped in as well so i clipped that in too.

All done then, that oil pressure switch is a failsafe for the fuel pump relay.

If it won't start with the switch disconnected, the fuel relay is dead. (or unplugged) :)
