Ok i have a 89 1500 with a 305 and 700r4.The truck will start and run, but as soon as ya hook the sst bypass back up it will start and then die. Ive only had the truck for a few months and didnt know it was unhooked. Also when your driving it the torque converter is kickin in and out. ive been readin on here that sometimes the conveter will act up if ya have a fuel of timing problem. Thats how i found out the est was unpluged. Hope this makes sense. Thanks for the help.

ignition module would be my guess, besides that they had a ton of problems with em

Ive changed the ignition module and i just changed the dist. today. I ve also changed the esc module and coil.

are there any codes, obviously it has a problem going into closed loop, the timing is set right correct?

The only code im getting is the one for the est being unpluged. The timing is correct. If i cant figure it out in the next couple days im just gona put a carb on it.

If it dies when you plug the est back in, something related to timing must be off. It should be at 0 with it unplugged and when you plug it in it should advance a whole bunch at idle.

take the vacumm line off the egr valve once and see if it still does it
