My beater 89 has been sitting since about November..

now it's running very rich on start up and throwing a code for that only..

and it's hard to start.. it cranks fine though.

I'm thinking bad gas.... unfortunately the last time it was driven it wasn't filled up and has sat around on half a tank of nasty washington winter gas..

Any other suggestions though?

Well now I'm leaning towards the ignition control module...

My dad played with it yesterday and started the rig up, it ran rich and rough for a while.. then it ran smooth and the CEL went away. Shut it off and it wouldn't start; it did crank just fine.

I'm going to pull the cap off of this truck and see what it looks like...

Also, check the fuel injector pattern with a timing light. If you see drips, you might have a bad injector or an o-ring.

I had a busted o-ring on my 88. It would run real rich when cold but would even out a bit after it warmed up. The o-ring lets too much fuel past the injector and will run really crappy when cold. After it warms up, it can handle the extra fuel better.

The coolant temp sensor should rear around 2.5 volts at op. temp correct? We have a similar problem on a 95 truck. The voltage seems off on the temp sensor.
