would the serpentine pulleys and brackets on a tbi 350 work on a earlier carbed 350?

yes, but you will need a water pump from serp era truck

What he said BUT you'll also need the clutch and fan for the serp set-up as well since it is reverse rotation to go along with the reverse rotation water pump.

Hey Scott, does the fan clutch screw on or is held on by bolts on those trucks?

I just had a vision of a screw on being spun the wrong way, coming unscrewed and auguring itself into the radiator......

are all the tbe small block water pumps the same? would i have to have a tbi altanator/power steering pump too?

Just water pump would have to he changed, but keep in mind you will.need the correct pullys for the entire system, there are a few different water pumps for sb chevys but the 87-95 tbi engine water pumps are the same as far as i know.

So maybe to answer your question in further detail yes you will.need to change alt and ps
Only to match the serp belt brackets if your converting from a v belt.

On the TBI stuff the clutch fan is a bolt on.

when I look up water pumps for the year truck I got my serpentine setup off of, it comes up with both clockwise and counter-clockwise pumps. I haven't put the brackets etc on yet, so I don't really know yet. I drew a picture of the pulleys, grooved and slick, and figure they are counter-clockwise when I doodle in what I think is the correct routing.

if i were to pull the setup off a truck with ac. but not run a compressor or air pump. could i still use the "no ac" belt. or do i gota find a truck that didnt come with ac from the factory?

So the p/s pump is different? How so - bolt pattern or does it spin opposite? I'll be doing this swap also and was hoping to reuse my good v-belt pump with the serp resevoir.

as long as the V-belt PS pump has 3 holes on the front for the serp brackets to bolt to. This is why you have to pull the pulley off, unbolt the 3 PS pump bolts on the front, drop the PS pump, then unbolt the serp brackets from the head.

When I got my serp setup, I just bought it with all the accessories. My old pump was damaged too. Bought a COUNTER CLOCKWISE water pump from XYZauto and had the alternator tested.

Sorry to sidetrack....

Does anybody know of a mostly bolt-on setup that uses the long skinny A/C compressor? I'm also worried about clearing the TPI intake. Do I need a TPI specific serpentine setup?

what about the air pump? theres a belt option to not have an air pump. do i need to run a bypass pully as well?

Yeah, you need a serp setup from a TPI motor. The alternator and A/C are lower and wider than on the TBI setups.

Pm me if you need a set of the TPI brackets. May let my spare set go.
