I search the forum and found one thread and I didn't really find what I was looking for by googling all the ls forums.

So my question is what all do i need to do to swap from a SBC tbi to a BBC carb'd? From what I have read there are several ways. To keep it simple I want to do it the easiest most painless way.

1. use existing tbi sending unit in tank and put a pressure regulator on it down to 3-5lbs for the carb and run a return line to the tank?

No with this way what is the best way to go about doing it? I know I need to run the fuel sender in the tank to a wire thats hot with the key on. Where would I put a fuel pressure regulator on? I haven't messed with one before. As for the return line, would I just use the existing one and re plumb it or? Is there anything else I need to do for this swap? I allready have the tci lock up kit so no worry there.

One other thing. My buddy stated his opinion that i could completely bypass the tbi unit in the tank and just make do with the edel fuel pump I have now. I don't think I can do that but why couldn't I? Is there anything else I am missing for this swap?

One question, why would you want to go from TBI to a carb? The easiest would be to swap the BBC in and run TBI as then all you would need is a 454 TBI unit and a chip from a BBC ECM.

Don't like the tbi setup. I hate messing with all the senders and everything associated with the tbi system. I just prefer carbs. TBI is too limited as far as hp mods go.

Well I went from tbi sbc to carb'd bbc with a stop at a fuel injected bbc in the middle. Much happier now. The tbi cant support a bbc built to any real spec's so either a complete standalone aftermarket efi or carb is the only way to go.

I reused the tbi in tank pump, tapped into a hot with the key on wire. I already had all new braided steel fuel lines on my truck so it wont be exactly like yours, but my regulator is on the frame rail pretty much under the passenger side floorboard, with the return going back to the tank. You could pull the tbi sender & install a non-tbi sender but it really makes no sense since now if you run out of fuel you just key on and it re-primes, and you have very little chance of a vapor lock issue.

Pretty sure this is the regulator I used. http://www.summitracing.com/parts/HLY-12-803BP/
