How do most of you guys with TBIs have your spark plugs routed? It seems like mine are routed in a really difficult manner (around behind the engine) and I was wondering if any of you guys have strayed from the stock routing. When I go to buy new wires should I buy a set for a different SB350 so that I can route them over the valve covers? Any input or pictures that you guys have would be appreciated.

Thanks,

Wes

Did you use the wire kit for the TBI engine or for a model year of SBC that routes the wires over the valve covers?

Thanks so much,

Wes

on both of my trucks, i route the wires in sort of an arc patter on each side, so it keeps the wires away from heat and any moving parts.

i don't have any here, at work. there's nothing complicated about my runs. i just try to keep them from heat and moving parts, as i mentioned, and i either criss-cross them or keep them totally separate when space allows to avoid inductive misfiring that long parallel runs can cause.

So when you buy your wire kit, do you just specify the regular TBI wire kit then? I know this is getting a little drawn out but I'll probably swing by Auto Zone after work to get a set of wires.

Thanks,

Wes

you shouldn't have to specify the fuel delivery type for plug wires. my k5 is carbed and my dd is tbi. i have identical accel 8mm universal v8 sets on both trucks.

I know what you mean about "routed in a really difficult manner" but i like to put things back the way they were from the factory. The driver side is really the only side that gives issues but you can make life a whole lot easier if you loosen one nut and remove another on the cruise bracket. If not the wires go between the cruise bracket and the wire holder and it sometimes if difficult to get the old wires out and the new wires back in between those two brackets.

I don't think TBI matters. I have used the same part # spark plug wires (and mostly the same routing) with manifolds and headers, with carb and with TPI.

It does matter whether you have the centerbolt valve covers or not.
