I'm going to install an electronic speedo and want to know if anyone else has hooked one up along with a TBI system.

I have an aftermarket speed sensor hooked up directly to the ECM. The sensor is supposed to not need any buffer before going to the ECM.

The speedo instructions say to run the sensor wire up to the speedo and then the speedo has a buffered output for the ECM to hookup to.

My question is whether the buffered sensor hookup from the speedo will be ok since I assume the speed sensor is buffering the signal already?

I would guess it depends on what the speedo is "getting" for a signal, and what it's output is.

GM used a variety of VSS setups, with varying outputs/inputs, so the aftermarket speedo should tell you what it's output is. Your ECM is looking for 2000PPM, so that must be what your aftermarket VSS is putting out.
