If you take a TBI from a truck that has a 700 and put it in one that has a manual trans or a auto like a 350 or 400. Do you have to do anything to the chip or would it not affect anything. Does the ecm need to see that the trans is actually locked up? If so any way to trick it until getting the chip reprogramed?

Without the TCC (Torque Convertor Clutch) wiring hooked up you should get a code for no TCC. It shouldn't affect anything though.

Can you make a jumper at the plug to trick it from throwing the code? But even with the code active it shouldn't affect driving or engine performance right?

Throttle following, stall saver, IAC, timing, all tied into transmission selection.

Can you run it as is? Yep. Is it "perfect"? Nope. Engine load is different in almost every situation due to the torque converter.

Solution is to find the chip used in your year truck (engine size, gears, vehicle, etc), with your setup, except the correct transmission. Depends on the combination, but a place like TBIchips.com can probably whip up an "auto trans delete" chip pretty easily, if Brian there doesn't have the stock GM PROM image already.
