TBI swap starting issue

Well actually he says it's not spraying, which is why you check the injector pulse. If the ECM doesn't know the engine is cranking, the injectors don't pulse, no matter if there is fuel pressure or not.

Sure, but it does seem like the ECM isn't priming the fuel pump with the key either so there's two problems both pointing to wiring problems.

So the ignition consist of , coil, ing. module in the distributer and pick up coil. Does the ecm or esc module have any part in a no start issue? It is supposed to warm up so I can get back out and work on it. I will start with ing, module and then pull the dist. if needed.

Thanks Again

I'm done here. I posted the link to diagrams that walk you through the process. They may be hard to read (or impossible, didn't get any feedback).

Gets a bit frustrating to try and help and appear to be talking to yourself, so good luck.

Sorry did not mean to offend anyone, I looked at all your links some are hard to read and some links would only let me go so far on third gen. I have a ton of printed info. and have actually revued several of your old post that have been helpful. Sorry my time is limited, and my responding skills are not great, you info. has been helpful and you old post also. i will trudge on. Thanks

Jesse

I have had problems with the factory crimps on the harness to the pump or pumps. Check those also and make sure they are clean and tight.
Do you miss your Quadrajet yet?

You might try posting what happens as you go through the troubleshooting steps. Without knowing how far you get, it's pretty difficult to find what's wrong.

Edit: I had never worked on any engine with fuel injection until a few months ago when I coverted my motor to TBI. It's a fairly straightforward process and I didn't have much trouble at all. I'd do it again if given the choice between TBI and a carb.

Thanks for the reply, I started back at square one and tested all the wires and connections, did alot of searching and it pointed to an ignition issue, I had the module tested and it tested good. So I pulled the dizzy to check the pick up coil, what a mess. I had to use a punch do get the shaft out, it was gummed up, the pick coil looked like it exploded from corrosion and ther was enough rust on the magnets that would not even hold any metal. I started to clean up the shaft but did not like how it spun and found some cracks in the magnets. I bought a reman to replace it with but have not had time to put it in. I kick myself for not checking it when the engine was out. The thought has crossed my mind about just throwing the carb back on.

Its probably been said, i did not read every post but if the pick up coil is bad you wont get any fuel or spark. So i bet when you put the new pick up coil on it will run.

I hope so, I put in the reman dizzy and my cap did not fit, so back to the strore new cap, no fit so i took the dizzy and cap back, they could not give me one to fit. Got my money back and pu the old dizzy back togother with a new pick up coil. Maybe I can get it back in Tuesday.

Thanks
Jesse

Put new dizzy in and new coil and it fired up! Now time to fine tune, thanks for all the help with trouble shooting ideas and links to wire diarams etc.

Thanks
