My son and I are building him a truck and I'm using a '90 Suburban TBI engine, but not the 700r4 that was behind it. We are going with the sm465/ np205 combo. I already have the speed sensor for the computer and we're using the gauge cluster from the Suburban too. What can be deleted from the harness since I'm not using the auto tranny?

Outside of the minimal trans wiring, you may get away without using the proper manual trans PROM, but be aware that if you have stalling issues when decelerating, that is where it's coming from. Mileage may suffer too, but it's hard to tell when 16 MPG is "good".

You can eliminate EVAP and AIR without any issue. EVAP is a good system IMO however, and should be kept.

EGR can't be eliminated without throwing a check engine light or reprogramming the PROM. Which could fix the manual/auto trans issue at the same time.

I'm keeping EVAP, and this engine isn't equipped with a smog pump. It does however have a couple of vacuum solenoids that I'm wondering about. (see pics) I also need a manual shift PROM, or can I have mine reprogrammed?

The wiring for this solenoid is in the same harness that goes to the transmission.

First one is TCC if I'm not mistaken, second is the EGR solenoid.

Wiring diagrams at the link in my signature will probably be of help.

There was a link to the Binder Planet forum, where they swap TBI onto their IH trucks. They had complete how to's, harness "pruning", complete pin outs, all that good stuff. I've tried to find it (the info) for you, but I'm not having any luck.

I believe one of our members is a member over there, but I can't recall who it is. I think he's retired Navy...

If I find it I'll post it up.
