TBI swap ?, yes I searched

Trying desperatly to get my blazer running so that I can make the Mudbogs in Vernon TX next weekend. My buddy has been doing the Tbi swap and is getting close, yet to try to fire it up, but all sensors have power. We still have to plum fuel and finish up some body stuff. Well my question is is there anything I should do/ know about before trying to fire it up. And does it need a knock sensor to run? trying to save pennies for gas down there. And I am not worried about a check engine light because I don't have one. I know this may sound stupid but any help is great.

You dont need a knock sensor for it to run.... But I think it messes with the timing without one. My 89 doesn't have one and it runs.

if it will run for the weekend then its not going to have one till later. Any other tips tricks to making these run good?
