i am going to swap in a tbi 350 from a 91 chevy truck into my 86 k5. Has anyone done this swap. Where do i get the wiring harness. Any potential problems i should know about.
I've heard it can be a bear. Read up well. Get some of the '91 service manuals and study those diagrams. Getting all of the wiring from the donor is a must.
If you didn't get the harness, computer, sensors, from the donor truck you will need them all. You will also need a fuel pump, Add a fuel return line back to the tank and a distributor made for the TBI system. The TBI you have will not work with out all these.
You can get a wireing harness from: Painless performance they cost around 300 bucks.
You can also get a lot of stuff you need from these guys:turbocity.com
It would be best if you can find a donor truck at a junkyard or somewhere to get the stuff you need from. Buying the parts from aftermarket suppliers can get quite expensive.
