OK, since I am becoming more convinced that I damaged the lobe on my cam that runs my fuel pump, I am now considering going to electric.
Electric pumps are expensive.
I am wondering if its possible to use a stock TBI tank to replace my std tank, to get the in-tank pump?
Will the sending until work with my fuel guage? My gauge is fubar'd right now, and the sending unit is also pretty expensive.
I am thinking I may be able to get a complete used TBI tank with pump and sending unit, for what I would pay for the aftermarket pump, and a new SU for the tank I have.
whaddya think? I'd be killing two birds with one stone.

you can use a TBI tank in a carbed application.

Sending unit gauge portion is the same.

Pull the donor tank apart before paying for it, the stock plastic baffles are very likely already broken, which means the sending unit may already be damaged.

You'll need a pressure regulator as well.

So, since I have an 83 sub, my best options would probably be 86-91 sub since they'd be TBI right?
Do the p/u's have the same tank as the subs? Mine is between the frame rails, and about 20-25 gallons.

'87-91.

Sub and K5 should fit, I didn't think the Sub's had anything smaller than 31 gallon? IIRC, there was also a 40 gallon Sub tank.

You may be right about the capacity. My gauge does funny things, so its hard to tell. I know that the most I have ever been able to put in was about 22 gallons, but since I can't tell when its gonna run out, I usually err on the side of caution, and put gas in pretty often.
I'd like to find a 40 gallon tank if it will fit.
I guess the search is on.
