TBI & Timing

I have a mid to late 80's 350sbc I need to set the timing on.

From the steps I have seen/read I have to do the following:

disconnect the est wire (brown w/black stripe on driver side firewall)

start the truck

set the timing to 0 degrees at idle

shut down

reconnect the est wire

start it back up

I think I'm over thinking the process with the timing light I will be using it has a digital adjustment for advancing the timing do i need to set this to zero also?

Yes, set your timing light to zero and then adjust the timing to TDC and you're done other than reconnecting the EST wire.

fyi you couldnt of got a better motor guy to answer that question for ya.

Timed in the motor & it runs excellent...next is to rebuild the TBI
