I found a carb to TBI adapter, but I need the opposite.
I want to put a '91 TBI 350 in an '85 that currently has a carb'd 350 with internal issues.
I was thinking about adapting over the intake from the carb motor, but then I found a carb-to-tbi adapter in a search, so I'm thinking life would be easier to go that route, and put the carb on the TBI manifold.

Any thoughts?

I know they exist, because I have one. No clue where it originated from. I would check all the major carb maker's sites, howell industries, and any others you can find that do PROM or computer set ups for the TBI. Worst case, you can either make one or have one made.

Thanks, that's for the opposite direction I'm trying to go, though.
I have a TBI manifold I want to put a q-jet on.
I'm starting to think maybe it's not possible and I'll have to swap out the TBI manifold for some type of adapted carb manifold.

That wouldn't work because the TBI is essentially 2 barrel and the qjet is a 4 barrel. The carb just wouldn't be able to flow well into the TBI manifold.

Oh, I read and read that first post.:doah: Anyway you'll have to change the intake.

Looks similar to what I have, using an edelbrock intake and a stock tbi

Cool. I'll be doing a factory TBI onto Edelbrock intake also. :D

The only issue I have is that my plate is set up for a larger injector than what I use. If you had the correct venturi sized plate, it would offer no issues.

The best part is that it is bolt on, no messing w/ coolant or anything to do the swap of an intake.

When you approach the zero hour, let me know if you have any questions I can help you with

I'm still researching, but I'll probably have to pull the intake to do a cam swap anyways. My cam isn't compatible with factory TBI. It'll still save me over $100 by using an adapter.

It is possible to burn a new PROM to match your cam, works well as that is what my set up required. I'd hate to see you put a wimpy cam in a good sounding K5!

My cam was one or two steps over the recommended with TBI but I run it anyway. Idles a little funny but for a trail rig I don't care as long as she doesn't studder when pointing to the heavens.:wink1: I'm runnin an edelbrock air gap intake using the holley adaptor and a factory tbi from an 87 K10. Got a little "hot" chip also.

I actually talked to the guy at TBIchips.com. He recommended a good cam with 114° LSA vs. my 110° now. He also recommended 1.6 ratio rocker arms. He said this should net me a little more power and better fuel economy.

If I change the cam, I'm definitely not going to take a step DOWN when I do.

And then yes, a new chip.

Problem is all that is going to run me near $600. :doah: So right now I'm kinda lurking around to possibly find a Holley FI setup around the same price. Then I'd skip the cam swap. :dunno:

Not to sidetrack you guys ( :p: :D ), but yeah, that's pretty much what I figured after asking.

Too late, thread already got high jacked!
