im doing a engine/carb swap into my 89 blazer and im basically making an old style engine, v-belts,carb, blah blah, and i got all my wiring seperated so i only have what i need now, i just can figure out how to get the alternator to work, on the plug on older style trucks, it has the two wires that plug into the 2 blades, mine only has one wire going into its plug (which wont fit), also it seems the power to the 89 style alternator goes to the stud on the back? sorry if this is confusing, im just hoping some one on here will point me in the right direction. thanks guys

i think i learned a little since i posted it, my friend said the rear stud is where the power is going in(or out, whatever u like) and the 2 blade plug in is for the regulator, is this correct, if so...how do i get my single wire alternator plug to work with an older style 2 wire plug alternator?

I'd keep the CS-130 alternator. You can get them with a housing that bolts straight in where the old style SI alternators were. Then you don't need to change any of the wiring, just hook the plug with the brown wire straight in, and hook the big post on the back up to the distribution block with a red wire through a fusible link.

If you have to use the old style alternator get you a connector from the parts store that matches your alternator. It will have a red wire and a white wire, connect the brown wire from the Blazer to the white wire and connect the red wire to the back of the alternator that connects to the battery. If it doesn't charge remove the wires from the connector and swap them.

thanks guys, this helps me out a lot, i guess im going to go find that plug to fit my alternator, ill let you know how it works out, thanks again!
