Hey guys, i was wondering what i would have to do to swap to a carb, on an 87 pickup. i got the truck from my uncle and he said it needed a computer, i got the truck home and all the wires to the tbi are out of the wire loom and cut and spliced and it looks like a really big head ache, so i was wondering if i can go to carb insted

Thanks
Tom

junkyard harness???? carb just seems like a step back to me.... although i recall a thread on here with a gentleman that may be looking to get rid of a 6.2L diesel...... that would be a much more adviseable swap

TBI is worth keeping I'd head to the bone yard and pickup another computer and harness

or fix the current harness by soldering and shrink wrapping the bad wires

but thats the thing, i dont know what he screwed with, and what he didnt, ill have to look into the junk yard harness

thanks
Tom

im going to have to take a ride to the junk yard, does any one have some pics of what the harness looks like, it attaches to the throttle body and then goes into the cab to the comp. correct? there isnt too much more right?

Tom

alot more than that. If youre running the factory computer setup. it needs the whole setup, which includes things like the MAP sensor, knock sensor, coolant temp sensor, oil pressure sender, etc etc.

only way around those things that i know of would be to have the EPROM custom programed by moates or someone similar.
