How hard it is to go from TBI to Propane? We have an 89' V3500 with a tbi 350 and it consumes a ton of gas and it isn't cheap. Propane is like $1.25 a gallon here for heating use and this is an off highway only use truck.

never done it myself, but it's been discussed quite a bit on here. it sounds like getting ahold of a big enough tank for a decent price and then running the fuel lines are the hardest parts.

remember that propane won't provide as much power or mpg as gasoline, so your fuel savings won't be as spectacular as it looks like on the surface.

I think you'd have to swap the intake manifolds. Most all the propane setups I've seen use a throttle plate from a Holley or Qjet. Other than that, you'll just be getting rid of a bunch of extra fuel management crap.

Oh, and I wonder about the distributor. You might need a carb type distributor that's not set up for computer control.

I ran dual fuel (propane and gas) on my 91 TBI 350 it was actualy pretty easy u just need to make an on/off switch for your injectors and fuel pump so u can shut them off when you r running propane. i had a 23 gallon tank got about 10-12mpg. the hardest part was getting a good seal between the TBI unit and the propane mixer, any little leak and it ran like crap.

they just did an article about it in the march issue of petersens 4wheel & off road magazine. looks pretty easy.
