I got a code 42.

I was cruising the highway about 60 mph. I wanted to check out the performance of the engine so I put the pedal to the floor. It down shifted and took off but started to sputter a little, kind of like bogging down, and that's when the SES light came on. No big deal at the time. It still ran good all the way home.

After doing some research and digging, I found a troubleshooting chart for the 5.0 and wasn't sure if it would also be the same for the 5.7

Yep, will be the same.

Only difference car to truck is that there will be no IAT for a truck (and no knock sensor for early 454 TBI trucks), but that's not something that will matter for you. Wiring colors will also likely be different, but that's pretty easy to figure out. If not, try the link in my signature, most years the electrical diagrams are there, and the fuel/emissions manuals will cover the codes specifically for the trucks, to include the proper wiring. I hear some have problems with those links, I have not.
