I just bought an 88 blazer, and when I start it up, when warm, the idle is around 4-500 rpm. Stabbing the accelerator does not fix it. It lasts until the truck is warm. Once warm, it idles right at 900-1000.

It was cold today (70 deg) and it idled up for a cold start (1100 rpm).

I'm thinking IAC, any other thoughts?

Thanks
Jack

Not sure? Idle is a little low at 4-500 RPM to begin with which may be IAC. But 900-1000 RPM is a little high totally warmed up? Yeah could be.

If you pull the air cleaner and crawl up you can look down into IAC. Look at it and have someone turn on car, no start... I forget if it moves then... then move your face and have them start it. Then look down and see if it moves. I don't know how else to test it without looking at a scan tool or TunerPro. You can look down into it with air cleaner off, sometimes they need cleaning and sometimes the passage can be clogged.

This may help.
