OK so I need to get the TBI wiring and the 4l80e wiring possibly seperated from the truck wiring, can it be done?
Will a 4l80e work with an older TBI system from an 89, if it comes with its wiring.
I am guessing here but monday afternoon I will dive in and find out more myself but trying to save myself time by knowing what I am up against.
I would like to keep enough wiring in the truck to run the lights wipers A?C etc and put a diesel in it which only need one wire for alt and one for starter. :D
But If I must I will take the hole wiring harness and computer.
So who's done it before?

I sold the 350TBI and 4l80e so that is what I am pulling from my 91 Crew cab.:thumb:

Most of the wiring is stand alone but IIRC there are a couple wires that are tied into the rest of the harness that go to the fuse block.

OK cool, so worst case I remove those wires with pin from the firewall plug and send with the engine and tranny, and he can replace in the same position in his 89 right?
I still might ditch the cab but it the front end is clean and I would like to keep it with the proper harness for the dual side by side.:thumb:

The torque convertor lock connector is somewhat tied into the TBI harness. That was all I remember as not being standalone. Although some TBI harnesses have the aldl connector tied into a weird bunch of wires under the dash. You can tell if its one of those by looking for a square black connector with 6 wires near the ECM. A couple of the wires coming off it go to the aldl connector.

Well I am selling both the 4l80e and TBI engine to the same person so if it's connected it's fine as long as I can keep the headlight harness and other non mechanical items still wired.
Worst case I can give him complete harness and take his old harness.:dunno:
It's just easier if I don't have to take the whole harness from every item under the dash.
On the engine side it should be easy enough I guess.
