I'll be putting my big block in a blazer.. It has a full MSD Ignition (6a box, Billet dist, blaster coil.) I'll also be putting TBI on this formerly carb'd motor. The MSD is Pretty much stand alone from the ECM... My question is.. How do I get a pulse from this dist to the ECM for an injector pulse? This dist does use a reluctor wheel with a pick up coil.

NEWENGLANDK5,

Depending on the part number distributor you have this may or may not work. You will need to use a stock style GM distriburtor that has the module in it to run the injection with the factory TBI setup.

The computer has to see the signal from the HEI module to fire the injectors not to mention the computer takes care of the timing functions as well. MSD makes a replacement distributor for TBI and TPI motors as part number 8366. A standard distributor for a carbed application will not work.

I have MSD Part # 85551 will that work? If not I'll get the 8366, but will I still be able to use my 6A box with it?

You might want to make a call to MSD and let them know what distributor you have and what you're wanting to do and they will tell you if your current distributor can be used or modified to work and YES the MSD-6A box can still be used.

I think Philly87 is an MSD employee. I hope so anyways. I've had 2 bad experiences calling MSD.. so I hope he can help me :D

You got it NEWENGLANDK5 I do work for MSD. The 85551 will not run the computer or the fuel injection with your TBI setup so you will need the MSD 8366 or stock equivilant. The 6-series box will still work with the setup and I can help get you all fixed up.

Shoot me a call at 915-856-2739 or e-mail me your number at [email protected] and I'll give you a shout to save the long distance.

Sweetk30; thanks for the compliment. I hope the new box is working well.
