I just rebuilt my 1987 350 TBI and it won't start. In the process of turning the distributor to set initial timing, the coil wire ZAPPED the throttle body. The motor was running prior to the ZAP and before the rebuild but now it will not fire unless I put some fuel down the TBI.

I hooked up my friends Snap-On scanner and it could not communicate with the computer so I put in a new computer and computer chip. The fuel pump is a fairly new AC Delco (1,000 miles), I tried a new fuel pump relay and it didn't fix it. I am getting spark.

I currently have the gas tank sending unit out for repair because the tubes were "loose" and I think I may have been getting a bad ground to the fuel pump. Possible Culprit?

Do you think there could be anything else that could have been destroyed by high voltage firing into the TBI Unit? Any help/suggestions/checks would be greatly appreciated. I really want my blazer back on the trails ASAP.

I don't believe it does. Correct me if I'm wrong but I should see the injector spray fuel into the throttle body as it is being cracked, right? It did that before the zap.

I'm wondering if it could be some other electronic device other than the computer that could control the fuel pump and the injector pulses.??

The (edit) IGNITION module is what "tells" the ECM that the engine is cranking, and the ECM grounds the injector leads to pulse them.

Search my username as thread starter, thread title "troubleshooting" you'll find the GM "crank no run" flow chart. There is a way to test this as I recall.
